The evacuation of people from the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk began on Saturday. Earlier in the day, 52 people were killed in a missile attack on a railway station in Kramatorsk on Friday. Since then, Western leaders have begun touring Kiev.
The latest British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, visited Kyiv yesterday and praised Ukraine’s efforts to deal with Russian troops. He promised to supply more weapons to Ukraine. The promise was made by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom shortly after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced preparations for war against Russian troops.
Mikhailo Podoliak, Zelensky’s adviser, said Russia must be defeated in the eastern Danvas region before a meeting between Ukrainian leader and Russian President Vladimir Putin could take place. Danbas has two separatist regions under Moscow’s control. Ukraine is ready for a big fight. Ukraine will have to win a big battle with Danbas. Ukraine will be in a stronger position to negotiate if it wins.
Six weeks have passed since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Looking away from Kiev, Moscow is now focusing on eastern and southern Ukraine. On February 24, Russian President Putin ordered a military operation in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, condemnation of attacks on Russian troops in Ukraine continues. A new mass grave has been found in a village called Bujova, near Kiev. The city was under Russian occupation for several weeks. However, the death toll is not yet known. Earlier, Kiev said it had found such a mass grave in the town of Bucha.
